ANNUAL NEW ENGLAND DODGE DEALERS 150 – FRIDAY, AUGUST
10, 2007 · The 17th annual New England Dodge Dealers 150 will represent race 9 of 16 for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour on their 2007 schedule of events. · Total posted awards for the 17th Annual New England Dodge Dealers 150 are $85,024. · James Civali is the defending champion of the New England Dodge Dealers 150. The win was the first of Civali’s career on the Whelen Modified Tour. Civali has since won two races this season to bring his career total to three Whelen Modified Tour Victories. · As of August 7, 2007, Stafford Motor Speedway has received 37 entries for the Connecticut Classic 150. · Mike Stefanik leads all Whelen Modified Tour drivers with 18 career victories at Stafford Motor Speedway. Other WMT drivers who have filed entries for the New England Dodge Dearlers 150 that have won at SMS include Reggie Ruggiero (8 career wins), Ted Christopher (6 career wins), Tony Hirschman (6 career wins), Jerry Marquis (4 career wins), Ed Flemke, Jr. (3 career wins), Todd Szegedy (3 career wins), John Blewett, III (3 career wins), Donny Lia, (2 career wins), Jamie Tomaino (1 career win), and James Civali (1 career win). · Matt Hirschman holds the Stafford Motor Speedway NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour track qualifying record of 18.009 – 99.950mph. Hirschman set this mark during Bud Pole Qualifying for the 2007 CARQUEST Tech-Net Spring Sizzler. · Whelen Modified Tour Bud Pole qualifying will commence at 5:30PM on Friday, August 10. Qualifying will consist of two consecutive green flag laps. The faster lap will determine qualifying time and starting position. The fastest 26 cars from time trials, will earn starting positions in the Connecticut Classic 150. Four provisional starting positions based on 2007 WMT owner and driver point standings. A past champion’s provisional is also available to make up the 31-car starting field. · The New England Dodge Dealers 150 will mark the third of four appearances by the Whelen Modified Tour at Stafford Motor Speedway in 2007. The WMT returns on September 30th for the CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend. · Last year’s Whelen Modified Tour winners at Stafford Motor Speedway were Doug Coby (Spring Sizzler), John Blewett, III (Connecticut Classic 150), James Civali (N.E. Dodge Dealers 150), and Todd Szegedy (CARQUEST Fall Final 150). Donny Lia was the winner of the Tech-Net Spring Sizzler held this past April and the Connecticut Classic 150 held this past May. · The New England Dodge Dealers 150 will mark the 85th NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event to be held at Stafford Motor Speedway and 482nd event overall since the series’ inception in 1985. · Richie Evans won the first Whelen Modified Tour event held at Stafford Motor Speedway – the April 14, 1985 Spring Sizzler. 2006 NEW ENGLAND DODGE DEALERS 150 RECAP · Tony Hirschman was the Bud Pole winner for last year’s New England Dodge Dealers 150. Hirschman’s pole time was 18.359 seconds – 98.045 mph. · James Civali is the defending champion of this event. Civali’s margin of victory last year was 1.6 seconds over his brother Ken Barry. Civali started the race in the 9th position, and led twice for a total of 77 of the race’s 150-laps. · 2006’s top-ten finishers were: (1) James Civali, (2) Ken Barry, (3) Chris Pasteryak, (4) Matt Hirschman, (5) Mike Stefanik, (6) Todd Szegedy, (7) Ed Flemke, Jr., (8) Zach Sylvester, (9) Reggie Ruggiero, and (10) Tom Bolles. · James Civali led the most laps in last year’s race. He led on two different times for 77of the race’s 150 laps. Other lap leaders included Tony Hirschman, who led once for 72 laps, and Zach Sylvester, who led once for one lap. · Time of the race was 1 hour, 9 minutes and 8 seconds, at an average speed of 65.092 mph. 10, 2007 · Friday night, August 10th, will represent week 16 of 23 for Stafford Motor Speedway’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions. This night will be the 15th of 21 consecutive weeks of Friday night NASCAR racing at Stafford Motor Speedway. · Main events will commence at approximately 7:30pm following qualifying events. Qualifying events will begin at 6:15PM. Spectator gates open at 5:15PM. All times and schedules are tentative and subject to change. · Total posted awards for the August 3rd NASCAR Whelen All-American Series events are over $18,000. · Stafford Motor Speedway’s handicapping system will be in effect. The top-18 in points will be pre-qualified for all five feature divisions. · Woody Pitkat (SK Modified®), Ryan Posocco (Late Model), Brit Andersen (SK Light), Sean Foster (Limited Late Model), and Dan Flannery (DARE Stock) were the most recent feature winners from the August 3rd Whelen All-American Series feature events at Stafford Motor Speedway. · Stafford Motor Speedway’s next event will be Friday, August 17th, a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Event.
