1981 was again a year of domination for the legendary Richie Evans. He was able to beat the competition and win nine times over the course of the year. Evans’ supremacy propelled him to his second consecutive track championship, becoming only the second driver to attain this feat in the modified division. Ray Miller, one of only 4 drivers to compete weekly at Stafford since it was paved, was the only other modified driver to win more the twice-in 1981 he took checkers 4 times. Bob Polverari took the Spring Sizzler, Ray Miller won the Ferrara 100, and Richie Evans dominated all other extra distance races.
