Ernie Gahan won both legs of a modified double header while Bob Ledoux won the Late Model Sportsman feature. Although Gahan’s wins were the 31st and 32nd wins of his career at Stafford, they were his first two wins on asphalt as he won 30 races on dirt from 1959-1966. Gahan would win once more on the asphalt surface in 1971 for what would be his 33rd and final career Stafford victory. Ledoux’s feature win was the first of five wins he notched during the 1970 season and would be the only 5 wins of his career at Stafford.
Richie Evans scored 2 wins in a modified double header while Gary Dufries won the Late Model Sportsman feature and Dave Fisck won the Street Stock feature. Evans’ wins were the 15th and 16th wins of his career at Stafford and they were the his first 2 wins of the 1980 season that saw him win 10 times en route to the track championship. Dufries’ victory was his lone win of the 1980 season and the second and final win of his Stafford career. Fisck’s win was the 6th of his career at Stafford and his only win of the 1980 season.
Mike McLaughlin won the Modified feature, Richie Gallup won the SK Modified® feature, and Larry Vassar won the Street Stock feature. McLaughlin’s win was first of two 1986 wins and it was also the 3rd of his 4 career Modified feature wins at Stafford to go along with a Modified Tour win in 1989 and a Busch North win in 1993. Gallup’s feature win was his first of 4 wins during the 1986 season and his 3rd of 8 career Stafford wins. Vassar’s win was the 2nd career Stafford win and his final Street Stock win before going on to record 1 ProStock win and 11 Late Model wins from 1993-2000.
Bo Gunning won the SK Modified® feature, Todd Anderson won the ProStock feature, Robert Palmer won the Late Model feature, and Nick Bazzano won the DARE Stock feature. Gunning’s win was his first of 3 wins during the 1997 season and it was his 30th of 47 career SK Modified® wins. Anderson’s win was his 3rd career win and his first of four wins during the 1997 season. Palmer’s win was his first of 2 Late Model wins in 1997 and it was his second of three career Late Model wins. Bazzano’s win was his second of 2 wins in 1997 and it was his 4th of 7 career DARE Stock wins.
Future NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series champion Martin Truex, Jr. won the N.E. Dodge Dealers 150 Busch North feature, Scott Foster, Jr. won the SK Modified® feature, Chuck Zentarski won the Late Model feature, and John Hurley, Jr. won the DARE Stock feature. In the last chance qualifying events, John Leger won the SK Modified® 21 Means 21 feature and Kenny Horton won the Late Model 16 feature. Truex, Jr. also won the 2001 ASB NASCAR 150, giving him 2 career wins at Stafford. Foster’s win was the only SK Modified® win of his career to go along with 6 Late Model wins. Zentarski’s win was his first of 2 wins in 2003, which would also be the final 2 of his 23 career Late Model wins. Hurley’s win was his first of 2 wins during the 2003 season and it was the 3rd of 6 career DARE Stock wins.
