(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Speedway Limited Late Model driver Jason Lafayette made the move from Street Stocks to Limited Late Model prior to the start of the 2025 season and his lone victory came in the 30-lap extra distance feature event. Fast forward one year and Lafayette and the #55 Tri-State Equipment Repair team are enjoying a bonanza of a season, being the only driver with multiple feature wins through six races and sitting second in the points standings. Lafayette just had a streak of finishing every race in the top-5 come to an end last Friday night when a hole in his radiator left him with a 20th place finish. Lafayette is looking forward to this Friday night, June 12th’s Lu-Mac’s Package Store / WTD Logistics LLM 30, which will be the highest paying Limited Late Model race in Stafford history.
“The car has been amazing this season,” said Lafayette. “We had some bad luck last week when a hole got punched in the radiator when we got into a little jingle. We’re going to come back for the 30-lapper with the same setup in the car and some fresh tires and we’ll see what happens. It was our goal to finish every race in the top-5 but when we have nights like last week with the radiator, it’s disappointing for sure but also it’s to be expected as part of racing. I like our chances, the car has been really stout, and the extra laps will definitely help as long as we can avoid any troubles.”
In addition to going for back to back wins in the Limited Late Model’s extra distance feature event, Lafayette is also looking to set a personal best with his third victory of the season. Lafayette has three times won two races in a season during his time in the Street Stock division, but a third win of the season would set a new career high.
“Knock on wood I’ve never won 3 features in a season and if we could win the 30 lapper, that would be an exclamation point on our season for sure,” said Lafayette. “The season has been really good so far and BFR has given me a really great car to start the season off with. Winning the 30 lapper and getting 3 wins in a season would be extraordinary for us. Our plan is to just go for it. Thanks to BFR Chassis, RAD Auto Machine, Gene’s Ford & Chevy, Tovano and McCouin Law Offices, and my crew Eddie, Megan, Tommy, and Kim.”
Lafayette will also be looking at his options for the extra distance feature as USNE Power will be putting up a $500 bonus for any driver who elects to start the race from last and can then win the race. A victory or at the very least a good finish will keep Lafayette in the thick of the championship race, which currently sees him second in the standings, 14 points behind after holding a 14 point lead going into the June 5th feature event.
“30 laps isn’t a long race and we’re going to probably be starting towards the back anyways with our handicap so we’ll see how things are looking and an extra $500 would be great,” said Lafayette. “Good runs always help propel you forward in the season. It would be great to win that race and getting a third win would be great for me.”
