2023 NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler Recap

51st Annual NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler

The 2023 NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler was a banner weekend for Ronnie Silk and the #16 Haydt-Yannone racing team. Silk and the #16 team won their NAPA Duel qualifying race on Saturday and then went on to lead 88 of the race’s 100 laps on Sunday to score a payday of over $35,000 between the $20,000 winner’s purse, the $3,500 purse from winning his NAPA duel race, and $12,150 in lap leader bonus money.

Matt Hirschman was the winner of the first NAPA Duel race with Silk winning the second NAPA Duel race. Matt Swanson won the Last Chance Qualifiers race on Sunday before the 100-lap NAPA Spring Sizzler to earn a place in the starting field along with 9 other drivers.

Hirschman and Silk led the field to the green flag with Hirschman leading the first 4 laps before Silk went to the front on lap-5.

Silk would hold the race lead until the caution flag flew with 65 laps complete, bringing the majority of the lead lap cars into pits.  Silk won the race off of pit road, but with Doug Coby assuming the race lead along with several other cars staying out on the track after pitting earlier in the race, Silk restarted from 5th position.

Silk quickly moved back to the front of the field, taking second place on lap-69 and then going by Doug Coby to retake the lead on lap-74.  Silk held the lead for the final 26 laps to score his very first career NAPA Spring Sizzler victory over a hard charging Woody Pitkat in second and Coby in third.
