50 Greatest Modified Drivers – George Janoski 1928-2008

George Janoski was a hometown talent who shined at Stafford Speedway back when the track was dirt.  From 1959-1963, Janoski notched 17 modified feature wins and two modified track championships at Stafford.  Janoski also won the 1964 Sportsman track title at Stafford, all while racing on dirt.

Janoski was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and retired as a maintenance worker from the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation. In addition to Stafford Speedway, Janoski found success in New York as well as the southern circuit. Janoski was inducted as a Hall of Fame member of the New York State Stock Car Association.
