2024 NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler Recap

52nd Annual NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler

The 2024 NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler was a case of deja vu all over again as Ron Silk and the #16 Haydt-Yannone team scored a second consecutive victory worth over $30,000. Silk and the #16 team won their NAPA Duel qualifying race on Saturday and then went on to lead 88 of the race’s 100 laps on Sunday to score a payday of over $34,000 between the $20,000 winner’s purse, the $3,500 purse from winning his NAPA duel race, and $11,250 in lap leader bonus money.

Teddy Hodgdon was the winner of the first NAPA Duel race with Silk winning the second NAPA Duel race to set the front row. The field qualified through two NAPA Duel races on Saturday, April 27th before rain postponed the running of the 52nd Annual NAPA Spring Sizzler to Friday, May 10th.

Hodgdon and Silk led the field to the green flag with Hodgdon leading the first 3 laps before Matt Swanson took over the lead on lap-4.  Silk took the race lead from Swanson on lap-8 and he held the lead through lap-49 when a caution flag brought the lead cars to pit road for tires and adjustments.

Silk won the race off of pit road but had to restart behind cars that stayed out on the racetrack.  Silk found himself back in the lead of the race on lap-60 and he would lead the rest of the way to capture his second consecutive NAPA Spring Sizzler victory.

Jon McKennedy finished second behind Silk with Woody Pitkat, Swanson, and Matt Hirschman making up the top-5.  Rounding out the bottom half of the top-10 finishers were Chris Pasteryak, Keith Rocco, Stephen Kopcik, Todd Owen, and Eric Goodale.
